The Health Center Program: Recovery Act Grants

 

Facility Investment Program

Funds made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will support health center efforts to expand their capacity to provide primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations nationwide as well as create employment opportunities in underserved communities over the next 2 years.

FIP grants are one-time awards.

 

 

 

 

Due Date: August 6, 2009
Eligibility: Existing health center program grantees only
Purpose: Address major facility improvement needs in health centers

Recovery Act Funding
 

$500 million to

  • support new health center sites and service areas,
  • increase services at existing sites, and
  • support spikes in uninsured populations.

$1.5 billion to

  • support construction, renovation and equipment (incliuding IT) in approved health centers.

  • 1,128 awards
  • $338 million total

Capital Improvement Program:

  • 2,614 projects
  • $851 million total

New Access Points:

  • 126 awards
  • $155 million total
